Details of the Recall: The recall affects model-year 2021 Ram 1500s equipped with the 5.7-liter eTorque mild-hybrid V-8 engine. The powertrain control module software in these vehicles may cause the fuel mixture condition in the engine to be overly rich, resulting in the engine shutting down. This unexpected loss of power while driving increases the risk of a crash.

To resolve this issue, dealers will update the software for free. Owner notification letters are scheduled to be sent on June 2. In the meantime, those with further questions can contact Ram parent automaker Stellantis at 800-853-1403 (Stellantis' number for this recall is 37A). Additionally, owners can reach out to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit the NHTSA website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.

The Stellantis recall of over 131,000 Ram 1500 pickup trucks demonstrates the company's commitment to addressing safety concerns and maintaining the reliability of its vehicles. Owners of affected Ram 1500s should stay informed about this recall and respond promptly to any notices they receive. By doing so, they can help ensure their own safety and the safety of others on the road.
