Juul Labs, the company that makes Juul electronic vaping cigarettes and pods, has reached a $255 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit. The lawsuit claimed that Juul unlawfully marketed its products to minors under 18. As a mom, this is concerning because we want our kids to make healthy choices, and we don't want them to be targeted by companies like Juul.
According to the 2020 National Youth Tobacco Survey, 19.6% of high school students and 4.7% of middle school students reported current use of electronic cigarettes. Source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
But that's not all. The lawsuit also alleged that Juul consumers paid more for their vaping pens and refill pods than they should have because they didn't have accurate information about the products' level of addictiveness and safety. As a mom, it's important to know that we can trust companies to be transparent about their products and keep our families safe.
According to a Truth Initiative study from 2019, 1 in 4 youth and young adult Juul users reported using the product for more than a year.
If you or someone you know used Juul, you could receive compensation from this Class Action settlement.

Although the Juul Labs class action lawsuit claims that consumers of Juul vapes are entitled to monetary compensation for economic damages and that purchasers were not aware of the safety hazards and dangers of Juul, the settlement does not include personal injury claims.
Other lawsuits and settlements may be pending over allegations of Juul's harm, hazard, or personal injuries resulting from the use of Juul's vape pens. The $255 Million Juul Labs Settlement only covers economic damages related to the alleged overpayment of Juul vapes.
To be eligible for a payout from the Juul Settlement, you must have purchased a Juul product either online, in-store, or directly from Juul's online store in the United States before December 7, 2022. The deadline to submit a claim and qualify for a class action payment from the Juul settlement is July 14, 2023.
The Juul Settlement has been reached to avoid the costly and risky process of going to trial. Valid class action claim forms submitted before the deadline (located below) should result in cash payments, and all parties involved believe that the settlement terms and conditions are fair. It's worth noting that the judge and court in the case have not made a determination regarding whether the class action plaintiffs or the defendant, Juul, are right or wrong.
If you request a higher payout of more than $300 for retail purchases of Juul products, you may be required to furnish proof of purchase to qualify.
The following forms of evidence may be accepted as class action proof:
• Receipts • Bank statements • Credit card statements • Pictures or screenshots of order confirmations
According to class administrators, the Juul settlement will provide payment based on how much each claimant spent on Juul vape products compared to other class members. The total payment amount per claim will be determined after all claims have been submitted and evaluated for legitimacy and timeliness. The estimated retail values for Juul product purchases are as follows, and the cap is estimated to be 150% to 300% of these retail prices, according to the class action administration website:
• JUULPods (4 pack): $15.99 • JUULPods (2 pack): $9.99 • Starter Kits (Device, USB Charger, 4 pods): $49.99 • Starter Kits (Device, USB Charger, 2 pods): $44.99 • Device Kit (Device plus USB Charger): $34.99 • Charging Case: $49.99 • USB Charger: $6.00

Juul Labs reportedly to pay 1.2 Billion to settle 10,000 youth-vaping lawsuits!
This settlement is a step in the right direction, but we still need to be vigilant about companies like Juul's marketing and advertising practices. Let's keep educating ourselves and our kids about vaping risks and continue pushing for greater regulation and oversight of the e-cigarette industry.
