Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer and controversial social media influencer known for his sexist and misogynistic views, has been arrested in Romania for allegedly abducting two girls.

he was taken into custody by police, who also arrested his younger brother Tristan and two other suspects, all of whom were detained for 24 hours in Bucharest. Footage of Tate, who is 36 years old, being led out of his luxury villa in handcuffs has been circulated online.

According to Romanian prosecutors, Andrew and Tristan Tate, along with two other unidentified individuals, are suspected of forming an organized crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing, and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content. The group is believed to have gained significant amounts of money through this illegal activity.

Tate was the most-searched man on the internet earlier this year before he was banned from social media sites, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter, as well as YouTube. His Twitter account was restored when Elon Musk completed his takeover of the tech giant, and Tate resumed posting immediately.

This week Tate was involved in a spat with climate activist Greta Thunberg with Tate boasting of his supercar collection and asking for Thunberg's email address to "send a complete list of my car collection and their respective enormous emissions". Greta hit back in a tweet which is now among the most-liked in history, saying: "Yes, please do enlighten me. Email me at smalld***energy@getalife.com."

Andrew Tate is a former kickboxing world champion who has been involved in boxing matches with YouTube celebrities Jake and Logan Paul, as well as KSI. He also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother but was removed from the show after a video surfaced allegedly showing him assaulting a woman. The woman later stated that their relationship was consensual.
